If someone knows, please answer. Read an article saying INFY had a contract to do biometrics on all 1.2 billion Indian people or at least a Director of that firm was the project leader. Any truth to this or is it wrong?
not true, they have zero biometrics tech. there are a number of french firms in the space that have biometrics tech
and there is some effort in the land of the long low hanging stink to biometrically id every smelly to crack down on
welfare fraud (thats what you get when you have 1B beggars).
Thanks. Read it in "The Week" a compilation of news around the globe. "the biometrics boom" was an article (without author or source) in the Briefing column pg. 11 in its 6-11-13 issue. They mentioned Nandan Nilekani, founder of INFY who said being identified will allow India's largely anonymous masses to claim services to which they're entitled under the law rather than being forced to bribe bureauocrats. Unique identification is a means to empowerment, he said. I saw no mention of any of this in the headlines section of INFY which made me wonder how reliable the info was.
