    • Putting out the hurt in the ENTERPRISE ZONE..........................

Ruckus Wireless was an outstanding performer in the enterprise Wi-Fi market in the second quarter, posting a healthy 37.3 percent year-over-year jump in revenues and challenging HP (NYSE: HPQ) for the third spot on the Wi-Fi market leader board.

Perennial leader Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) led the enterprise Wi-Fi market, with revenues reaching $581 million in the second quarter, up 16.7 percent year-over-year. The strong quarter raised Cisco's market share to 53.7 percent in the second quarter, its highest share since the fourth quarter of 2010, according to the latest data from IDC.

Second place went to Aruba Networks, which saw its enterprise Wi-Fi revenue increase 13.6 percent year-over-year in the second quarter, giving it an 11 percent market share. HP posted a 17.7 percent year-over-year increase in enterprise Wi-Fi revenue in the second quarter, bumping up its market share to six percent from a previous 5.4 percent market share in the first quarter.

      AND ON THE CARRIER SIDE...................

Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) is the top vendor supplying Wi-Fi equipment to carriers, followed by Ruckus Wireless and Ericsson (NYSE: ERIC), according to the latest stats from Infonetics Research.

Overall, carrier Wi-Fi equipment revenue, including carrier Wi-Fi access points and Wi-Fi hotspot controllers, increased 53 percent year-over-year in 2012.

"The carrier Wi-Fi space is red hot right now, driven by the explosion in demand from mobile operators using Wi-Fi to augment their 3G/4G deployments and offload a portion of mobile data traffic to unlicensed spectrum," said Richard Webb, directing analyst for microwave and carrier Wi-Fi at Infonetics.

    • CSCO-RKUS makes sense. RKUS becomes very profitable because CSCO has the sales channels. CSCO becomes the leader in all commercial WIFI including enterprise and carrier. Makes sense the big question is does someone else step in?
