3D Printing a New Industry that may change the World

Okay folks, why are we targeting PVC and beach toys and not the red hot 3D printing market ???

Seems like the Metabolix engineers should be looking at how their material might fit into the 3D printing market. Will it take less energy to print using Metabolix materials? If folks are printing lots of plastic products wouldn't it make sense to make them biodegradable?

This seems like a market where customers should be willing to pay a little extra to get the best material possible. If it has the added side effect of being biodegradable, GREAT!!!

Eno and Company, you should start talking to the players in this area and start customizing materials to fit their needs. Anyone of them could end up buying you for up to 10x your current market cap and it would be a drop in the bucket to them.

If I recall correctly, not only do your materials meet the majority of the specks necessary to become part of most plastic products but it also takes less energy to form your plastics into custom shapes. If that is the case then the 3D printer market could be a big win for you.

As Steve Jobs once said "Think Smarter"

For whatever reason, the eggheads at your company are designing great products but the sales and marketing folks aren't thinking their best about how to see them.

Under a dollar now.... Shame on everyone at Metabolix for not backing up the truck right now and buying up all available shares!

    • You might be right about the 3D printing but if they are going to put efforts towards anything new then they need a partner to bankroll their efforts. This is the time to be aggressive about partnering with someone / anyone. The company is now in a death spiral and it's going to take a really good pilot to pull out of it. Eno is not the man for the job but he could partner with someone who is.

I love the idea of targeting the 3D printing space. They are already using a lot of plastics and each year they are going to us a lot more. If everyone could print products and automatically be able to include a biodegradable symbol on the body then it would be a real win for that industry.

The entire company needs to think smarter right now and find a way to save the day.
