    PERFECT STORM

There is no doubt that EMC has been undeservedly battered in this awful market. It's market cap is now below its mathematical valuation, based solely upon the the valuation of 86% ownership in VMW.

VMW earnings, EMC earnings and a 'nuther 50 points of the fed rate will be break the backs of the shorts who are holding a 40% float on VMW- a pop is inevitable - i just hope it suitable translates into EMC's share price

The street doesn't buy that argument quite apparenently. The street likes to see the money. So until EMC makes that strategic move to unlock the value it is holding. It won't get the respect it deserves.

Just think of it logically. If the street is pricing VMW in at this point, why then the price isn't up? Also, let say that the street sees EMC now trading at $25 because VMW should be fully valuated, then the management gives the 'go-ahead" to unload its VMW? Should EMC drop like crazy with increased cash instead? If pps goes up, shouldn't EMC be overvalued? Which is making more sense?

Show me the money is what the street looking for. Nothing more. Nothing less. As a long investor, you just need to hope and pray that the management will announce some degree of VMW dumping. Otherwise, earnings itself cannot save the price in a reccessionary environment.
