    he expectations which we derive out of central bankers have a HUGE impact on the policy they make.
    Give the guy a break- it is not his fault- its ours for looking for any direction at all- the problem for him is that if he give direction it WILL become an expection which will come true.......

    • You don't get it. The problem with Greenspan is that he has gotten a fatal dose of bureaucratic paralysis, which infects all of gov't. The really bad part of this is that the Fed should and must be quickly responsive to the rapidly changing flow of our economy's needs and NOT respond like the rest of sluglike gov't, i.e., way behind the curve. Much too much damage done to the investing public by this out-of-touch bureaucratic nonsense, and the main reason the gov't should not have a slow old man running a sloth-like gov't office. That's double bad. That being said, I do not know the right answer as the gov't will always control this function and will never allow the private sector to self-regulate.
