Don't listen to the basher(s).... those who do their Due Diligence know that a strong patent portfolio, like Vonage has been building, is a great foundation for FUNDAMENTAL STRENGTH and FUTURE PROSPERITY.
Vonage's patent portfolio (IP) is just another VERY STRONG REASON for Vonage's higher valuations to come AND as the TOP BUYOUT CANDIDATE in VOIP:
"As Vonage IP expands, it increases the likelihood of the company regaining a competitive advantage over competitors like 8x8 (EGHT). In addition, those communication giants who once fought Vonage on IP issues may be paying royalties in the future. Vonage IP realization also increases the likelihood of an acquisition by a suitor looking to get into the telephone market."
These 4 NEW PATENTS just further increase Vonage's advantage and position going forward - VERY BULLISH.
It seems like every VoIP player out there has a patent portfolio full of VoIP patents. IMO the patents are just fodder to take to court when they get sued by another VoIP player and then it's up to the court to decipher what the hell the patent means. Maybe the patent will prevent them from getting sued and maybe it won't.
Barunpratel you are smart to ask that question. There is no evidence of independent valuation of the patent portfolio. This is a portfolio of smoke and mirrors. The perceived value reminds me of the Pakistan dialing plan. Seems there then gone.
