Price falling on volume... that would seem to be lots of selling (or shorting). VG historically has never really shone come earnings day, so maybe this is a short term trade to capitalize on that. Who knows.
I have real doubts about Vonage so I'm not expecting to hear anything too good when it reports. Am looking for results of net subscriber growth of 30,000 average paying subscribers for the quarter.
I've read here a post looking for just 25,000 new paying subscribers for the quarter. That's too close to just a paltry 1% subscriber growth for the quarter. With all the money spent on advertising and marketing, about 50 million dollars, I need to see more new paying subscribers than that.
I also need to see that the new subscribers are paying at least 30.00/month on average, or at least 29.50. I notice that figure is constantly lowering which means total returns and potential returns keep lowering too.
Now mind you, I am not impressed with a report which will show Vonage simply replacing churned customers with new customers, and maybe adding five or ten thousand new ones on top. That's just an offset and is just too low a level of subscriber growth.
Let's hope Vonage can deliver like so many longs believe it will. If it doesn't, it will mean Vonage is even worse of an investment than some here are posting.
