on top of that, Samsung announced over the weekend that THEY were going to pursue SED technology. It wasnt Canons or Toshibas to begin with - they liscensed it from the american company NNPP - after that ruling you linked, Canon no longer has the IP rights to the tech so Samsung is gonna move in.
The TV wars are getting interesting. One of these big Japanese companies should just buy the whole display portfolio of NNPP and be done with it. NNPP is the gatekeeper it looks like. Boy is Canon screwed - at least this isnt a meaningful amount of their revenue stream.
