Astro A50 gaming headset (by Skullcandy) review

Good stuff...Obviously Skullcandy has their hands in a broad range of audio headset and gaming gear.

The shorts just think they make plastic airline headphones.

It will be interesting to see how well the earnings are on the 2nd. I am betting (with a large chunk of shares) and hoping that the street will reward them if the top line growth is there (bottom line has been holding up this earnings season for a majority of stocks but top line has been slim).

If they can show growth and some positive forward guidance, then that 33 dollar price target is easily achievable. Add the short squeeze (which baffles me as the company and stock hasn't trended much below that 12 dollar range). You would think they would be looking at a company that has a deeper trend.

I am long this stock, like their products, own their products, and like their branding approach.

They have plenty of opportunities for growth in the industry and haven't yet pen iterated the foreign market yet.

Go long - be strong - go SKULnation

    • This is a direct quote from the Astro article, it speaks volumes:

"But the question on many people's minds, however, is whether or not the A50's build quality suffers as a result of Astro's new owner, Skullcandy."

As it turns out Skullcandy did not change the original A50 components, BUT, this speaks to the general perception of Skullcandy products...they're crap.

You say you like Skullcandy's branding approach, but yet I noticed that they didn't use their brand on the Astro A50 product. Why is that? Because it would cheapen the Astro brand; a brand that has hard-won success.

Further, I would argue, that Skullcandy has a slim to none chance of associating their brand to quality and desirability.

Just consider the logo, a cartoonish skull. Maybe middle school goths and motor-cycle-gang wanabees are into it, but that's it. What about when they grow up? The brand in this respect is very transitory, not enduring, fleeting.

Then consider elements and asscociations of the name. The word "candy" as in "eye-candy". It's an obscene association and again, transitory, and cheap. Cheap as a 2-dollar wh....

Then there's the association with the super model with her pants unzipped. Well enough said....easy and cheap.

And the products themselves shout out "CHEAP", with all that hard plastic.

So, I just don't understand how you can say you "like their brading approach". What's to like?
