Their whole Mix Masters are designed and promoted by Mix Master Mike... He is considered the 5th member of the Beastie Boys and considered the best DJ in the world. His work was showcased at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Broadcasted Ceramonies 2012.
Everyone is so focused on Dr. Dre. He is a flash in the pan rapper with no real following. It's his ego trip and marketing ploy to promote himself.
Besides as I have said before, 70% of Beats sales is to a demographic that is below average income and 10% of the population. That's a fact.
I am not much of a beats fan but i think you are dead wrong about dre being a flash in the pan ... beats headphones are everywhere I look now ... If you listened to the con calls in the past the CEO basically admitted that the Mix Masters were basically for PR and that they dont do a lot of volume - so basically SKUL has no high volume 300$ headphones while Beats main offering is 300$ -
I see alot of beats IN stores, not on the kids ears OUT of the stores. unfortunately not too many kids can afford 300$ earphones. Dr Dre was popular with kids born 1976-1980, And guess what most of those 30 somethings are struggling to make ends meet, so they arent buying alot overpriced headphones, but they do opt for the mid range product (skul)
