SKUL was a stupid idea right from the get go

I remember when I first read what they did I just thought it was #$%$. Why would a company like this even be public -- it makes no sense at all.

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • For me, I was at Radio Shack for something, I don't remember what, and I saw their headphones which I thought I could use. The Skullcandys were on sale. I almost bought a pair except they looked too made-in-china for me. But the brand name and logo struck me as clever, so I checked out their chart. It was bearish, so of course my posts were a big hit on this board. That was a long time ago now and it was really hard to short....couldn't get shares to short or only a few hundred.....pain in the rear. So now I'm just waiting to play a trade-able range, if it ever gets a decent bounce.

      • OP - Shame on you. You should know that KOSS makes the Radio Shack branded headphones! It's their bread and butter - their "cash cow". Has been for years. You should have bought an RS branded set! :). By the way, SKUL headphone quality has improved. I bought my 1st 2 SKUL ear buds at airports while traveling circa 2005 or 2006. The second pair was purchased as the first pair came apart. I haven't had a problem with heavy use with any SKUL products I have purchased in the last 2 years (including a nice Skullcandy protective cover on my iPhone!)

I read the Radio Shack and KOSS story while researching the company as we were bantering about KOSS stock (in a friendly way). I can now put 2 and 2 together as Radio Shack brand head phones always did look familiar for some reason to me in the past. My FIRST set of headphones (circa 1975) were KOSS cans with volume adjustment knobs on both ear cups. I use to adjust left and right volume while listening to Frampton Comes Alive, Chicago and KISS songs, thinking that I was cool adjusting the sound profile - all the while sweating and itching from the cheap "pleather" cup cushions. The songs were actually on record albums, how archaic! Now all my music is stored on a phone (whonwould have known!) The sacrifices of our youth.

        Life was good,... :)
