NIHD just now launching 3G in Mexico. America Movil, which owns more than 80% market share already operates the 3G service, is preparing to launch 4G services, has an MVNO operator in the U.S., Tracfone, with 19 million subscribers and operations along Latin America, which allows an almost continental range of services to users, including international roaming services at a very low cost.
PTT (push to talk) is still the foundations of the business model of NII, which does not work properly on the 3Gnetwork. Which is to say, it is likely that the existing customer base does not necessarily continue with NII after the launch of its 3Gnetwork.
NIHD has extreme dependence on the transmission network and internet backbone of its competitors, making the operation of NII extremely expensive. And this scenario is even more worrisome considering the need to keep the network operating for about 2-3 years without, necessarily, to attract customers willing to abandon their current operators who already have coverage and robust stability of networks for several years.
