If CUR's NSI-1899 increases hippocampal volume big pharma will likely rush to license for as much as $100 million cash and $500 million in future milestones. This event is only weeks away. This would be the first promising and novel to approach to depression due to direct neurogenesis. It will open the door to many other indications, including Alzheimer's and traumatic brain injury.
That would be terrible deal for shareholders. ...... if the product is that successful ....this is potentially a $20 BILLION MARKET. .........what is needed is a much beter deal. ....or.......several large financial instituions to capitalize CUR to a $10 to $50 level.....think Goldman Sachs etc.
I hope you are right, but I am not so sure that Phase 1B will show any marked increase of hippocampal volume given the limited dosing used (28 days), but maybe after the Phase II where the dosing is for a longer period of time (90 days). JMO,
I think it's more like months away, as in about 2-3. I believe the NSI-189 phase 1B data is likely to be out in late October or early November. CUR just says second half of 2013. That being said, a big pharma parter could definitely bring in the cash you are talking about. I had shares of MDVN when Pfizer partnered with them on Dimebon, a small molecule drug that was thought the delay or even improve Alzheimers. The deal was something like Pfizer paying $225 million plus setting a $500 million milestone on Phase 3 approval, in exchange for 50%. It was a heck of a deal even though Dimebon ultimately failed in Phase 3 testing. MDVN went on to success anyway, with a prostate cancer drug.
Please peruse the most recent 10Q - your timeline is off. Here is the direct quote: "To date, we have completed dosing two of the three cohorts of patients in the Phase Ib portion of the trial and are near completion of the third cohort. We expect final data from the 1b trial to be available in the third quarter of 2013. "
Although with Garr's crystal ball, we usually find he is off - the timeline has slipped twice already. But these are the current supported facts.
