    Does anyone discuss SHN???

I added another 500 shares today. . .after reviewing my portfolio (of 48 stocks, etc) it was the ONLY stock or bond that was undervalued. . .yielding 7.6% with future growth prospects. . .all of us "old farts" will be checking in to a facility one of these days. . .

    • vick: I do agree that demographics favor continued growth. However, like all stocks, SNH will have its periods of decline. If this should happen again; I'll double my position.
Most of my portfolio is currently in income producing Reits, Oil,NG or Coal trusts or limited pardnerships. As the current baby boomers retire; income stocks will become very important to them; so the long term looks good for this sector. (Metalurgical Coal has been very, very good to me over the last year and a half.)

      • to watch with a wary eye is home health care.

Most folks prefer to stay in their own home and also prefer to die there.

Many health care operations now have live-in, sleep-over care providers. Many that do it full-time or just to assist the family caregivers.

Will this eat into the "nursing home" industry over time or is the bubble of boomers large enough to not worry?

      • interesting that you are in coal also. I bought ARLP a year ago, and it has been my best performer. . .our portfolios sound similar. REITS, big dividend stocks, and oil royalty trusts. . .lots of income for the "golden years"
