joey, disagree with you. REITs did well during the last many years, recession or not. People will always need mortgages, either business or home loans, can't do without mortgages. Even if dividends drop a few %, still the best deal in town. GLTA.
brian, many companies did the RS to make the Float smaller to attract Big Funds to invest in the company. Nothing wrong with that. Look at CRBC, after the 1 for 10 RS, pps gained about 200%. NYMT did that RS long long time ago. Relax.
WASHINGTON — The American economy is in trouble again.
Employers in the United States added only 69,000 jobs in May, the fewest in a year and not even close to what economists expected. For the first time since last June, the unemployment rate rose, to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent.
So what does it mean? Low interest rates, including rates for borrowing, for the forseeable future. That's how the REITS make their money.
