    You need to study the very graph you refer to. It is a comparison graph of percent changes (not the variable itself), which ALWAYS will imply a more narrow difference between any two trends (a statistical reality). Yes, they have similar direction, but you see on your own graph that after just three months you see divergence, and by the end of one year you have approached a 50% divergence (i.e., TBT has dropped more than 50% more in value than even the percent decline in 10 Yr Treasury note interest rate). Your graph proves the point being made, that TBT will always have decay.

    Try graphing the actual Treasury interest rate and the price of TBT on the same graph (scale for the order of magnitude difference in the values) and the divergence is even more obvious.
