Why the surprise? Everyone knew this was a done deal. As I said, take the initial hit & move on. The legal way will pay huge dividends in the long run. But, it does give "them" a path to bring this down before earnings if they so choose. Maybe, maybe not, but it's in play. Hey, better than a headline stating the CCP earch engine is taking some Bidu accounts! It'll be interesting how the analysts break this down.
10 yrs from now, not too many people will remember Bidu.. changing from piracy websites to legal binding websites, Bidu will lose more than 90% of its users, not half as predicted.. Today Bidu has to shut down ecommerce site due to lack of traffic.. Chinese consumers won't pay full prices for music, software applications, movies , video..they have been downloading for free for many years, no way they're going to pay for anything.. another websites will pop up and they will use it as long as no law preventing them from free downloading..US investors are funding these "piracy" behavior, and turn around complaining about Chinese's piracy policy...GREED vs. STUPIDITY
