The strikers have been out in front of the Williamson Plant since May23rd. They look like some kind of "Woodstock Nation" with their tents, pavilions and American flags. They have a large inflatable Rat that they pump up. All the passing truck drivers honk. I feel bad for them. Their national union has apparently led them into believing they can win this fight. They can't. Too bad because a lot of good people are going to end up out of work. The really pathetic thing is that the Union rejected the original offer of flat wages for the next 3 years and all of the other concessions are in line with the benefits for the rest of the Company.
This is NO rumor. Union has already voted to strike. DPS wants it's union workers in Williamson to take a wage cut, freeze the pension effective 4/1/2010 and buy into a cheaper health plan and those are only some of the changes. DPS also wants to decrease their 401k contribution. The second DPS attempts to implement any of the above the strike will happen. They were picketing the Symposium Young was at today at GS.
