Does anyone reading this note have a opinion about billboard blight? How can so many companies keep using billboards to advertise when the public considers billboards to be an eyesore, distraction to motorists and a big waste of energy. When people go outside they would like to see trees, the sky and beautiful buildings. The billboards aka "litter in the sky" are no longer effective, in fact they are turning consumers away. Spend the money on better trained employees, reduce prices or something that people find of value.
The facts are that most people do not view outdoor advertising as a blight. Many folks when traveling find it beneficial to know what restaurants are at the next exit, how much a gallon of gas is at the next stop, where a good hotel might be, where is a nice camp ground, etc, etc. Also billboard have helped the FBI and other police agencies apprehend fugitives that have committed serious crimes including murderer's and sex offenders. Would you rather have a couple of more rapist, child sex offenders and murderer's on the streets or billboards? While you may have an argument that billboards are not pretty, there are many positive things about them.
