I still can't find out if you have to be in military to participate?
Can one just purchase this fund through a brokerer such as Ameritrade? Or does one have to be in the military for this fund? I did consider investing in GOLD ETF's since it seemed to be a loophole around the hassle of the mutual fund's closed status (VGMPX), or having to be in ther military (USAGX), or just plain out poor management in mutual funds that deal with gold, but GOLD ETF's are taxed at 28% because ETF's invest directly in Bullion/gold coin inventories, which the IRS treats as a taxed premium under the "collectibles" category. Most people find this tax premium when they cash out the hard way when they file their k-1 tax forms. Some ugly suprises there.
