You make a good point. I had not seen the data for 1998 and 1999. Yes, in 1999 it traded as high as 610 Canadian. I don't have the exact date but I think it was around 2/1/99.
On that date the exchange rate was 1.5085, which would give a US equivalent of $397.74.
In 1998 it had a high of 603 Canadian. Again I don't have the exact date for that trade but I think it may have been in April 1998 when the exchange rate was 1.4345 which would have yielded a US Equivalent price of $418.26.
So I think you are right, most likely the all time high in US dollars is in the $418 range. However, the Company has clearly paid more than $30 in dividends since 1998, so I think it is still safe to say on a dividend adjusted basis, we are seeing new all time highs.
new 12 month and all time high today, even with the dividend.
yes, BV is key.
Going to be an interesting ER this time, with all of the equity market dynamics. With any luck, their equity trading prowess will be equal to or greater than their capability in Fixed Income which is pretty darn good.
