Reason I did not metnion TI is they recently acquired National Semi and may be still digesting that acquisition. Ofcourse Microchip also made an acquisition of SMSC. That leaves three companies Linear Tech., Maxim and ST Micro STMicro is having it own issues with ST Ericcson.
On this is for sure at this price level ISIL can easily be bought.
Yes, TXN and MCHP are busy digesting recent acquisitions. Of your three remaining candidates: - LLTC never makes acquisitions, buying ISIL would go against everything Bob Swanson holds to be holy; - MXIM has no reason to buy ISIL, it's a smaller, less focused, less profitable version of itself;
Don't know anything about ST. Maybe they would think buying ISIL was a good idea, being over in Europe and all. Or maybe some vulture capitalists similar to the gang that destroyed Jazz could swoop in.
But the enthusiasm for that kind of deal seems to have cooled a bit since the Freescale leveraged buyout turned out to be not such a great idea.
