    I'm not complaining, but...

I appreciate your well organized thoughts regarding Trustco.
How does TRST's dividend yield compare with other regional banks that you follow ?
Also, if you feel like taking the time to post it here, I would like to hear your opinion of which geographic region might have been better than Florida for the expansion that Trustco launched several yeas ago. As far as I know, Trustco had through the seventies , eighties, and nineties, pretty well saturated their home area with branches. What direction do you think the company should have gone when searching for growth ?

    • The TRST yield is high, but it consumes in excess of 100% of income, which is a drag on the stock price. For example, take a look at CHZ. It pays "only" a #% dividend. That dividend, however, represents 43% of income rather than 107% of income, and the share price grew 13.6% in the past year, rather than dropping 15.1%. I own a little CHZ, and I may not be wild about it, I'm not looking for a good exit the way I am with TRST.

Locality? For an unsophisticated place like TRST, contiguous markets usually work best. Real entry into MA and VT could have been productive, particularly via acquisition, although TRST's ability to consumnate in acquisition mode is well-documented. Those aren't exactly booming markets, but both have pretty sound real estate markets and some pockets of wealth that could have been productive. Oh, well, missed opportunity sems the trademark of the brave new world at TRST. Rather sad.
