I am an employee at VVTV and I work in the broadcast center as a production assistant. Over the year-and-a-half I've worked there, we've always had a large amount of turnover. But it's getting worse. Management in the broadcast department have made many mentions that they cannot give us any more money and they are slow to get people into other production positions (audio/video, graphics, studio managing, etc.). Within the last month, we have more job openings in production than ever seen on all three shifts. On my shift on Fridays and Saturdays, this next weekend will show only 4 scheduled people out of seven. The problem with this is all the camera operator jobs, the key jobs, are wide open and no one is applying because the management refuses to up the production ante to keep people.
Hopefully, the VVTV/NM merger does something to help, otherwise the broadcast department should invest in robotic equipment for the studios.
