    • Thanks for posting Niles. Who knows? I do recall that in the last CC Lynch commented that TXCC was looking to partner with a firm that could provide greater scale for TXCC. Since TXCC already has HDmobile for smartphones etc. and Pico projector IC's which may or may not make it into smartphones at some point having a BOD member join the BOD at a firm like the former RIMM certainly doesn't hurt.....and may help.

      • To be honest, the last thing on my mind when I posted the Richard Lynch reference was the possibility of them using an embedded pico projector with an HDplay interface (the words Blackberry and pico are not exactly a natural combination). I thought Lynch joining BlackBerry's board could be very interesting due to the fact that they are a company right now that is reinventing itself (just like Transwitch) and will be forced to innovate if they are going to survive. This is part of the reason why they are seeking out advice from people like Richard Lynch.

There is likely a tremendous amount of information to be gleaned from having your chairman involved with a large handset company like Blackberry going through this process. What type of features are important to handset makers now and what is coming down the road that will need to be supported in the future? Just to have an inside look at the internal gears of a large handset company and why they do what they do and make the descisions they make could be very beneficial for a company like Transwitch who is designing mobile interfaces.

SO WHAT? Blackberry and TXCC are in different business. TXCC is in HSI, projectors , TV, and blackberry is in cell phone. Unless Blackberry is going to design projectors, I don't see any value for this one. Do not tell me pico projector, if you really talk to the design engineers from TXCC, you will know that pico is NOT a product line that TXCC can deliver. TXCC has terrible balance sheet, and TXCC has to hire more engineers to make pico works, the current engineers are not capable of delivering pico. ----- resource: my friend who used to work as a design engineer in TXCC.

      • johnd,

Chill out buddy! Why so hostile? You say "the current engineers are not capable of delivering pico" and your source is a friend "who used to work as a design engineer at TXCC". Well, they just announced deals with Atco and Edge in the projector space and you say they can't deliver. I suspect your motives. What niles was trying to say is that if Richard Lynch was selected as a Director for Blackberry, that is a sign of respect for his knowledge and experience in the technical arena and his experience as a leader. A Director is not an engineer limited to a specific area of technical expertise. How stupid are you? Never mind, your reply will come back garbled and, yes, STUPID.
