    Moving away

The stock is moving away from the target price of $60.00 which usually triggers stock split. As we receive more economic confirmations of a recovery defensive stocks will start to retreat. This combination of events along with the recent bad news is not good. I would not put alot of money into ABT at this point

    • Newby,

If you feel I don't make sense then I would not listen.

As far as what funds, I would go with Vanguard or Janus either S&P 500 index or growth and Income or perhaps a balanced fund. Something with low risk. The idea would be to jump back into ABT after it consolidates( 2-3 years).

      P.S. I have been right so far.....maybe I'm just lucky ;-)

      Good Luck

    • ditto.
that shows the IQ level for those so called elite club members.

    • No impact from new drugs coming out?

Sure, its not a neat little formula, but you have to gamble. When the stock hits a high, you know it will retreat some.

BTW, are you also viscan? Just wondering.

And have you given us any additional info about things you like besides stocks?

    • LOL.....Don't I wish it was all a nice neat little formula that spits out exactly when to buy and sell.

I posted a strong sell on abbott about a week ago when it was trading around $58.00. It should find support around $47 maybe even bounce back a bit. As the economy starts to manifest improving corporate earnings money will start to flow out of ABT and into cyclical, financials and growth( time frame 3-6 months). In my opinion ABT will see the high 30's again before moving higher than $58.

Its dead money for 2-3 years.

    • I'm no expert, but your statement doesn't hold water with me. BTW, why didn't you list the other available funds?

PVYYX and POVYX are at about the same price they were in early Jan. Okay, they've gained some, but only back to where they were earlier this year. Why don't you go back and look at the chart for ABT, PVYYX and POVYX for the last year or so. Real easy to rip ABT stock price then isn't it?

If you're an ABT employee and are an astute investor, just wondering if you did an exchange when the price was up at $57? You could have put it in the Stable Value Fund. Then wait your 30 days and move it back into stock at a lower price. It's all a game viscan.

    • viscan- If you want to join the club you must be more than a "sitting duck" unless your a Peabody Hotel duck from Memphis or a Oregon Duck.We require more than NAME,RANK,& SERIAL NUMBER.Start by telling us where you live, favorite college team, fishing holes, sex life all those things that interest other club members. And change your motto"Life Sucks!"

    • Unfortunately you disagree with the elite of intelligent and constructive posters who tend to support each other and exchange "congrats" on choosing ABT as their money-maker.
Perhaps ABT gives away KFC-redeemable coupons (together with some Reductil, because of the KFC food) if you post something good about it on this board.
You will also be bashed as a stranger.

      Good bye.

      • look at the average age of our elite of intelligent posters. They have been spoiled and did not realize that abbott is undergoing a risky reconstruction from a major hospital product/medical device maker to a drug discovery power house. i don't think abbott got the right visionary leader to accomplish it, as they want to change the image overnight by a bunch of desperate moves of acquisition. now the poorly designed strategy backfired. and i believe we just saw the tip of the iceberg.

      • I post to express my opinion on the best investment strategy. I also read and consider others.

Most of the ever present posters are Abbott employees. They are loyal and self serving.
Furthermore there stock participation is thru their 401K plan. They have no options for selling therefore its the perpetual strong buy sentiment.

These are the biased, deceivers and selfserving
posters you find on most boards. They are professionals until it conflicts with their interest then its name calling and threats.

I pay little attention to those types
