Abbott Laboratories to Host Conference Call with Investors and Analysts Regarding Strategic Announcement

ABBOTT PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2003--Abbott Laboratories will host a conference call with investors and analysts regarding a strategic announcement on Friday, August 22, at 7:45 a.m., Central time.
A live webcast of the conference call will be accessible through Abbott's Investor Relations Web site at www.abbottinvestor.com. Related slides will also be posted to the site. An archived edition of the call will be available after 1 p.m., Central time.

The company is working in multiple areas--I believe they had a setback then on one of their trials- but the company is going to do well!
You might also want to look at Dendreon-PH3 trials in Prostate cancer drug will complete by year-end!

what happened in april of this year...big tank, that may have been a great buying opportunity huh? -

It could be any number of things-
merger--probably not
headcount cuts--maybe
selling off one division--maybe
reorganization--maybe
merging R&D--already done that-
fines--probably not(don't get a conf call for that)
buying Elan --probably not
buying Kosp--probably not
merging with Medtronics--probably not
merging with Guidant--maybe--another turtle
merging with Baxter--maybe--turtle might be better off without a turtle mate may spawn new turtles-

Sure is interesting timing though, with Elan's latest debt reprieve scheduled to run out tomorrow...hmmmmm! -
agree. Could be anything.
Less likely it is headcount reductions since that implies "layoff" and that is something Abbott tends to avoid.
We'll see tomorrow. -
can't merge with baxter, between the two they would control close to 100% of all LVP and SVP production for the entire world...would not fly
