thanks for all your help
Yes, that is correct. You own 200 ABT and 20 HSP shares.
what i meant was my original 200 shares are not reduced as a result of the spin off correct?
$24.35 sounds about right. As others have preliminarily calculated here, it will be somewhere in the 5% - 8% range of your current ABT basis.So if, for example, your ABT basis on 100 shares @ $40.58 = $4,058.00, and the apportionment percent is 6.0%, the following would be the outcome.....HSP basis = 6% of $4,058.00 = $243.48 / 10 = $24.35/shareABT basis = $4,058.00 - $243.48 = $3814.52 / 100 = $38.15/share
my cost basis for ABT is like 7.50 so how can you do it on a cost basis? wouldnt that make the price of the new stock different for everyone? I'm a dummy on the math.
so if my cost baisis on my 200 shares of ABT is $47.62 my cost basis for HSP would be $28.52?does my cost basis for ABT remain at 200 shares at $47.62?thanks for the help
