My investment philosphy has not changed one whit and I am especially convinced, more than ever, that "diversification" is a huge myth generated by the Wall Street pundits, the majority of whose stock picking acumen can be equalled or exceeded by an inebriated chimpanzee throwing darts at a stock page from the newspaper. And yes, you can time the stock market despite what the "experts" say, see the book written by Ben Stein on this subject. The sectors I restrict my portfolio investments to are as follows:
1. Energy (especially clean burning natural gas and field service companies)
2. Alternative energy/power conservation
3. Mortgage REITs at cyclical bottoms
4. Biotech (especially companies providing research/software services to the industry)
5. Medical devices/technology
6. Natural resources (especially iron ore, coking coal, zinc and copper)
7. Utilities

Cadillac Desert sounds like a good one. I'll try to get to it as soon as I finish reading Jane Fonda's book. :-)
"Who's the midget?"
--Jack Nicholson about Roman Polanski, just before Polanski sticks his knife up Jack's nostril (ouch!)
<<Lib-I'm counting on the NFI divy to pull me into Green this year but those divy coupons with Ponzi's picture on them bother me a bit as on back says:Only Valid for Lap Dances at Cheetah's Lounge in Vegas.>>
Antonio,
You must lighten up. That was a funny post by the Plutester.

Wealthy,
I don't really think shorting is anymore dangerous than being long..........if you use stops. Without stops, it is infinitely more dangerous as there is no limit to how much you can lose. I also would not like paying the fees to my broker to be short and would not like paying the dividends. But there's something to be said for making money in good markets and bad.
I hope you're short NLY. Mr. Hill thinks it's a time bomb.

Hajohn:
You could go and have some sessions with the Jumpster. Or will it bring us bad luck just to mention his name?

I magined you in my head like the low-life Southerner in a low-life sooty suit in a B movie, and guess what, I am right.
aok et.al, you are correct on all counts. Those are my good qualities. I'm not quite normal, but I can't blame it on anybody as I've had good teachers. You know the saying "you can lead the horse to water...." The fourth way has tormented me for so long. I'm all the things you say and many more. haj
What a jerk. Inarticulate prik. Offend Hill. Boom.
