Agree, can remember years ago most did or at least the passengers had one. Everyone dressed for the flight. Not anymore, if you want to wear a thong and sandels now its ok, because they are all cattle car flights now. "The Greyhound of the skies". Also flew from Gatwick to Orly in Paris, when they allowed smoking. No restrictions on pipes or cigars, gawd did my suit stink when I got off the plane and my lungs were probably brown too!

About 4 years I was unfortunate enough to be in a waiting room for a flight to Europe, and there were all of these Russkies waiting for a flight to Moscow. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be on that plane. All with beards and tobacco juice that looked like it had been there since Stalin days. Yes, there was a strong odor. Just telling it as it was. A friend of mine went to Trinidad & Tobago and advised me not to go there as it was very dangerous.

Maybe I'm just old but the trip to Europe in business class still wore me out. Seriously they ought to have a dress code on those flights. I was on an AeroFlot plane couple of yrs ago and the Russkies all stink! At least most Americans (but not all) bathe.

I think the Bahamas are OK. The gov't made a real effort to straighten thing out there with some success. I don't know how it is in Freeport and Nassau but the other islands seem safe. I know when we used to sail carried a large pistol or two. Everyone carried guns on their boats and authorities never objected. Bimini back in the 70's the worst.

I guess I was a bit harsh calling most of the islands here cesspools. You just need to be careful. A good plan is to avoid places where they sell cheap package tours like Dom. Republic, Jamaica, ARUBA, St. Martin etc.

Most of our crime in Anguilla is perpetrated by people from other islands....notably St. Kitts and St. Martin. We do have a growing crime problem just like anyplace else.

Regarding Hawaii, I have ever been there, but I have heard that the Christmas tourists are particularly awful. Our Christmas tourists here have got to be the worst. Just awful.

We play a game with the French tourists. We use an exchange rate of 1 dollar=1 Euro. When they complain, we pretend we don't understand what they are saying. It's great fun.
