physalia<I have lived in FL for 12 years and have met people from every state east of the Miss. except Maine. I see more cars with Alaska license plates and I do Maine.
Lots of Mainers in FL. Most probably have FL plates because either they rent their "cah" or they have taken FL residence. They would do that because FL state taxes altogether would be about 1/2 of Maine's. And if they bought a place in FL, they would live in it 1/2 the year anyway, because Maine Weather is so bad. Summer here lasts two days, if the fog lifts so ya can see it. And when it aint winter its mud season.
There is a lot of news in Maine, most of it bad, like about tax increases or snowstorms. I've seen Mainers every time I've left here to go anywhere. Lots in Anguilla, Nevis, St. Barts, St. Martin in the winter. Even in Cuba. Where do we go for vacation? Anywhere but here. : )
Pilar, it's good to see a bastion of sensibility here, but I know very well you're purposely downplaying Maine. You have much in common with many of the learned posters on this board. I am merely tolerated, but you would add something here. John
Pilar, No wonder I haven't met anyone from Maine as I have never been to any of those places you mentioned. So, people who live in Maine are called Mainers. Well, I didn't know that. I did have a girl in class named Pilar. And talk about class, well she had it. Phy
Thanks for reply. I have class, but am not a girl. "Pilar" is the name of my "lobstah" boat, which was Hemingway's boat, which I remember from flunking American Lit, which is why I don't take vacations, but I do remember you said you were from Indiana. That is one GREAT place. Nicest people I ever knew. What town?
