Abbott Laboratories Message Board

ABT nice entry point; long term

ABT has many "can't do without , standard of medical care products that are innovative and "best of breed". The hospital system I work in uses their products , the point of care testing which is really "just starting"..lab test that are done with a drop of blood, resuls within about 5 minutes...I dont have a crystal ball but I think this is a good entry point ; long term hold (years), is not for fast money.

    • So far, despite this MB self-congratularory mania, this POS of a stock is exactly where it has been 9 (NINE) years ago.

Let us not forget either that this stock reached 60 few times and each time it does, it goes back to low 50s. I do not expect this time to be any different, but excuses sure will vary.

    • Oh lord, now he's repeating himself. Jak, do you have that written down or is it just copy and paste? Do you use it on all the MBs you abuse?

By the way, I've owned ABT stock for more than 25 years and it's made me a lot of money.

Now, go away and leave this MB alone.

    • jack, reading your posts reinforces your contention of intelligence in short supply on this message board. I find your posts distill into angry negative rants, without substance, in sharp contrast to other posts on this board.

The current 6% increment in SP is due to demonstration of superiority of the next generation of stents, predicting enhanced market share for Abt.

Would you clarify why you dogmatically asserted the Xience V stent was fully priced into share price 3 weeks ago?

BTW, what is the basis for your predicting one split for ABT in the next 20-40 years. I would be surprised if it does not occur in the next 2-4 years, not 20-40.

If you were correct in your predictions even half the time, I would expect that you would be less angry and less condescending. I would extend my sympathies, but you are acting like a paid basher.

    • you are just an angry person..not sure why..not my problem...your foul replies ..well, I dont care what you think. The market eventually gets it right...this stock moves higher ever day you post your foul language ...I guess the additional gain today just made you more insane..sorry but I stand by my opinion..
this message board is not intended for you to post your lunatic , foul language posts and replies..dont bother in the future..get a life...

    • Hey Big Man Jak, If it hits $58 sell it and buy back at that low price you keep talking about. If it never hits that low price.....Guess What!!!!!!!! You got rid of that POS stock and you won't have to be so frustrated any longer. Go get them Big Boy. Show me some of that great brain power you have been telling us about. I don't want to have to explain this to you again. Don't disappoint me.

    • Today, the results of a two year study regarding use of Xcience was announced in a positive way, and look to see how ABT is jumping. I don't believe this was priced in, as it is obvious from today's action. Just maybe this is the product that will push and keep ABT's shares above 60.

      • Thank you kindly for your gracious advice.

I demonstrate my brain power through different conduits. I shall not elaborate further as I suspect the details of my activities would unduly strain your rather limited cerebrum....

      • I agree, manage62, as does Market Watch; >> (ABT) shares were up 3% at $54.22. Abbott said that a long-term study showed Xience recipients had a 45% lower risk of suffering a major cardiac event and a 32% lower risk of suffering certain blood vessel complications after two years than those who received the Taxus stent!<<

        In contrast jakstat stated:

        >>Re: Is Xience's approval priced in? 22-Apr-08 04:29 pm The approval of Xience is fully priced into today's closing ABT price. << (ABT was below 51 on on april 22).

Looks to be loss of brain plasticity, an early step toward senile dementia, jackstat.

    • Thank you for showing that message boards are dominated by individuals with the intelligence of 3 year olds- waste your own freakin time, not ours-

    • Your behavior Jak matches your intelligence... very poor.

    • "All pharma stocks are afflicted with this malaise and AABT is no different.

Only excuses vary, results are uniformly sub-par.

Tell your buddy who inquired about the reasons why i do not trade this stock back and forth that the main reason is that I am NOT a trader. I don't know when ABT will go $5 up or down, I only know that if it does go up, it will go down in no time. "

Show me where is your alleged "foul language" in what you quote above.

      Are you somehow deranged?????

    • Dear Angry and Thinks you Know all:
Listen, you have an opinion, fine..I am tired of your foul language and repetitive posting of the same foul mouth stuff..you maybe "win" some game of having been on message board longest, but you dont win any prize for your knowledge and (lack of) nor your foul language such as:

"All pharma stocks are afflicted with this malaise and AABT is no different.

I have posted my informed opinion of what I think a good entry point was..dated it..51 on 8 May 2008. For long term investors, I stand by that. Their products are best of breed and just starting in certain areas of health care. I will see in 5-10 years. You can lose the foul language please, I find it (and you) obnoxious.
