    It's time to buy/add ABT

payout ratio 42%, forward PE of 11 for 2010. ABT is one of the best manage American companies.

ABT is being punished today for making some good investments that will pay off up yonder. Shareholders are paid a sensible 3.5% yield.

    • I would aver that all analyst estimates posted for the pharmaceutical industry for 2010 and beyond should be marked with an asterisk. These are estimates based upon the regulatory enviornment as it exists NOW, and do not factor passage of punitive, high-regulation, possible price-capitation legislation.

Opinion: Expect little more than dividend return for ABT for the intermediate future. If industry-antagonistic legislation passes, perhaps the "Rule of 72" is in order for ABT: 3.5% yield; double your money in roughly 20.5 years.

A voice of reason and circumspection in this forum, for a change.

I'd add that JNJ is eating ABT's lunch and outperforming it in the same political environment.

That is so because JNJ is well managed while ABT is NOT.

    • Total, complete IDIOCY.

You simply do not know what you're talking about.
