from the earnings call: "Our average daily revenue per occupied unit in our comparable communities increased by 4.2% in the first quarter to $203.23 as compared to the prior year period. The majority of our residents received an annual rate increase in January, which favorably contributed to our overall increase in revenue per occupied unit."
The average is $203.23 a day times 365 is $74,178.95 per year. If you add in supplies and extra care its quite a large sum.
Yes RT, in most cases in home care is not the best option although that too is a growing field. I was just trying to make the point that occupancy has certainly been negatively effected by the economy, propably more so with SRZ as a premium provider. While you and I may differ about why this stock will rise and ultimately to what level, I have had a bit of extra investment funds and have increased my holdings here today, so yes I think this is a great buy today.
Do you have the figures that show the breakout? The largest fee portion is for room and board.. with the maximum care units it adds about $50 per day to the base.. maybe even higher. This model needs adjustment to become an industry leader again. And true, a private caregiver in your own home would be over $20 per hour depending on the agency and location. Getting older and frail is very very expensive that's why more families are opting for caring for their loved ones at home.
