I thought Srz was just following the market but it doesn't look that way now.We could be in for a world of hurt in the short term.I am going to look into this more deeply and see if Mark Ordan didn't just Boneus for his Bonus. Long but not strong Retarded_Techie
Something does not look right. I am NOT an investor in this stock because it pays no dividend. However, I track the stock to make sure Mother's residence is secure. When I go to either visit or pick her up and it is during lunch or supper time for the dining area, I have definitely noticed that the dining room is looking very vacant. Only about 1/3 of the available seating is full of seniors having a meal. This facility is in southern California. I know they raised the rent last January which was well above the CPI. In talking with Mother, some of her friends had to move out because the rent increases were too much for the families to bear. If the company wants to increase revenue, fine; however, when revenue ( rent ) increases, occupancy rates fall.
You sound like SRZ did a huge resident fee increase in January of this year. Nothing could be further from the truth. I happen to know what it was because my very elderly father is a resident at one of the SRZ facilities. The last increase which was in January of this year was very, very modest - 2.5%. Further more, if anything, occupancy at my fathers SRZ facility has been on the steady rise since the first part of 2010. I can't even find a place to park in their parking lot when I do my frequent visits and I always observe that the dining rooms are always full of residents.
