Chronic Neuropathic Back Pain - Z160 vs. Placebo

How many placebo patients will drop out because of pain? This would favor Z160. And remember, our competition is a sugar pill. Can Z160 beat sugar?

I listened to the Feb 12th talk again, and Merck did see strong results in the animal trial with NMED-160. This means bioavailability may be less of an issue...for lab rats.

However, some #$%$ sapiens did experience analgesia at high concentrations. This probably means human metabolize Z160 better than the lab animals, and therefore need much much more, which now we have with the increased bioavailability.

So, this mean the lab models are no good, and we HOPE we can get enough juice on target to beat sugar.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • If too many placebo patients "drop out" it can weaken the overall results and statistical relevancy of a study. Inasmuch as Z proposes to recruit 140 patients in each study (70 per group), this is unlikely; however, in a well designed test, there can be no introduced "advantages" to higher drop out rates in one group or another. Your statement already presupposes that Z160 will be materially better than the placebo and that all treatment patients will respond in the same manner when given Z160. These are valid hypotheses but not valid assumptions otherwise...why conduct the test???
