    Impact of Winter Rains

Any thoughts on the impact of the current rains and flooding on the Colombian economy over the next year or two. It would seem that the country will be under stress for some time to come. I don't say any reflection in the share price of this fund. I would appreciate the opinions of those closer to the action.

    • The strong peso is the big problem now...and they are talking about a FX tax....like Brasil...wait and see if it affects exports...but 70% of their exports is oil....

      • What is an FX tax?
I think your comments are pretty spot on. Colombia will continue to do great this year, because it is heavely oil based, and the banking sector is very profitable.

The rain hurts farmers, but that is not really reflected in this index so much. Oil/Banking/Minerals/Metals are the big ones, those are all doing well.

Government corruption is a big deal, that they seem to be fixing little by little. It is too bad, with that Grupo Nule thing going on, not sure when Bogota will look like a world class city, like it needs to be. It already is, but the airport sucks, the area around the airport sucks are well. Unless Colombia starts there I do not see this index going passed $30.

New Airport, new roads and more on making tax dollars more efficient and this index will be $100 no problem.

Santos will make all this happen. You will see, he is the man.

    • All the rain has created a fungus that is killing a portion of the coffee crop. Look for coffee to continue to rise.

      • I live in Medellin....I think they are going to be fixing roads for 2-3 years if it stops raining today....but the fact is it is not going to stop raining..so road REconstruction will go on a long time...they are also going to build houses for the ones that were lost...no one has insurance here..luckly the price of oil is going up so are the comoditties..so they should have some good income to cover the new expenses......the rains have hurt crops...but on the other hand all the resevoirs are full...lots of electricity to sell...
