    question on power savings

    R. I learned that as PIE
    where I= current.
    Here's something to think about: during the day full load
    requires 100kv on primary but at night
    with a reduced load
    50kv would be plenty.
    A smart Xformer with
    smart distribution center "automatically"
    switch to the lower level.
    Network wide this would be a big deal.

    • L. I learned that way too. Some use A for amps. The turns ratio of the xformer would be the same, so secondary voltage would be cut in half and you would burn out anything having a motor. The best way to save power is to put the transformer as close to the load as practical to reduce line loss.
