Reported on Bloomberg. CEO James Parker said Southwest is looking at adding a 2nd type of aircraft. You can bet this is a result of Jetblue move to buy 190's. Look for an announcement shortly. This explains the runup in price.
i will bet southwest want to take BBD jets."Air Southwest managing director Malcolm Naylor said the new airline will initially lease two new 50-seat Bombardier Dash 8 turbo-prop planes, built in Canada for around eight million dollars each."link:http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=99746&command=displayContent&sourceNode=98877&contentPK=6830023
may be BBD would takeover ERJ with BBD improve cash reserves! :o)by the way, from today's news http://www.hoovers.com/free/co/news/detail.xhtml?COID=42381&ArticleID=NR20030829670.4_e022000604742462 it says BBD want to take a stake in Talgo (or may be takeover Talgo....)Talgo is a spanish train manufacturer.http://www.talgo.com/
CASM for 100 seater is way too close to the 737.I suspect LUV would do better with 50 seater.I say BBD and/or US based regional airline are a good bet.Comments?
I don't think they are looking at the 190. My guess is the 175 will be their choice. This 78 seater will compliment the 737 perfectly, and allow them to expand their marketplace.Look for them to be the launch customer on the 175.
