Based on all the press seems like AAPL will announce a new product to compete with Google Earth. GEOY will be the most likely providor because they have the highest quality color images. Apple announcement should finally create real momentum in GEOY. I think the AAPL announcement together with an end to concerns about government cuts in the space could lead to quick 25% rally in GEOY. The amazing part is even after a 25% move GEOY would still be dirt cheap trading 4x forward EBITDA.
Looks like DGI got the AAPL contract. Although would have been better if GEOY got it, you can expect GOOG (GEOY customer) spending to accelerate as a result of AAPL competition.
Doesn't matter as crapApple consistently fails to announce partnerships so the media and public believe Apple are gods. Tons of outside designers, developers and engineers will never get credit due to Apple's NDAs and/or failure to acknowledge outside help with around 90% of their products. FACT.
Would have been much better if Apple had identified its providor of satellite images but I guess we will have to wait for that information. Seems like there was confusion yesterday because the map product has traffic, aerial, 3d and satellite. GEOY and DGI are the only possible providors and the industry benefits from AAPL being a customer. I guess we will have to wait for more detail but the good news will come.
