In last week's Space News publication, there was a Missile Defense Agency recap. A couple of paragraphs were with regard to the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) target program. Program value for 22 targets is about $1B; bidders are Orbital, Northrop, and Coleman Aerospace - Lockheed did not bid this one, which was suprising to me.
Targets program is a great program since it spans across all missile defense programs (GMD, THAAD, SM-3, and PAC-3).
The article noted that Coleman is in detention due to a recent target launch failure indicating that they will not win. With Northrop being new to the game on this one and with no pedigree with MDA targets, look for Orbital to win this one in the near future.
