We're very good friends. Talk almost every day. When he's working on a launch I'll talk with his wife and get status reports on the timeliness of launches and any problems, etc. Much of the information, he gives me, seems to be easily accessible through ORBI's web page or through launch scheduling notes from Wallops and Vandenburg. Will continue to post as I get information. He does not want to give out his email address.
Can't help you on that one. Except that the ORBI X-34 should be flying soon late 98/early 99(reuseable). Once Taurus flies some more there may be an "XL" version with strap on solids (similar to Delta II). There will be no more standard Pegasus in the near future (maybe never) - all XLs.
my neighbor works for orbital in the pegasus program and has been very bullish on the company (of course) for a long time. Finally broke down and purchased stock last April and been happy ever since. All things he says points toward increasing revenue/profits once ORBCOMM is up and running.
I'll be on the non-ORBI launch crew. However, I will be on the launch crew in another capacity (deals with weather).
Taurus will be moving to early Feb. Not a big deal considering Taurus was supposed to launch Nov 96 - a few more weeks won't hurt.
I'm not an insider just working "with". Great bunch of people - still learning but very knowledgeable.
This is not insider info. Just slow to trickle out that's all.
What is your function on the launch crew? XL or Taurus/both?
Holding since '92, wrote 2 grad school papers in graduate school on Orbital. Would very much like an insiders view of this company. Looks exciting from outside.
