Steel Production Jumps With Capacity Utilization Highest of 2013
The AISI reported today that steel production hit the highest level of 2013 at 1,904,000 net tons. Capacity Utilization came in 79.5%, surpassing the previous high of three weeks ago at 78.6%.
The statistics are published weekly from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
60% of steel made in US is from ferrous scrap sold by Metalico and material dealers.
Last weeks capacity utilization exceeded year aglrvels of 79.2 and Steel Production of 1,970,000 reported by AISI. Although, this is high production time of the year, the trends are now starting to exceed normal volumes.
