Once the cash from all settlements is in the "kitty" the company will be able to grow again. Ratings have moved up to where they can start writing new business. They are straightening the balance sheet out day to day. Re-capitalizations of client base to lower interest rates will result in lower claims. The computational impact of this is significant. The accounting for the settlements will be interesting!! to say the least..... one time events x 3. In 2 years the financial statements will start to normalize & it wil be evident that the company is moving back to where it was before it was defrauded. A very strong opportunity in my opinion.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Then they took legal action against many of their customers. Do you think they will get them back? Will that fact make others think twice before doing business with MBIA. Things in the market have changed .. only time will tell. I think the rate of change in revenue increases will be the first sign.

      • Yes I agree that the growth in new business revenue vs computational income growth is key. I am not so worried about securing new business. Most of the bad actors are gone. Litigation still going on... BAC vs Mellon, AIG etc ...... aftermath of Countrywide (gone). There will be lots of new business. There will be a flip-flop of client bases. MBI will get clients that were sued by other insurers & visa versa..... ha ha ! Besides, there are not a lot of insurers to choose from.
