US airlines have their hands full right now. But why wouldn't a Japanese, Korean, or Chinese, or other foreign airline want to buy them out? Would give them larger access to US, plus an outstanding tourist destination for Asia. Are there US regulations that would keep this from happening?
Halawapilot, would like your take on a merger/acquisition with DAL??? Seems the rumor mill on our side has been quite active over the summer about HA and ALK. Not trying to stir the pot as these are just "RUMORS" but do have some merit with fleet types, Asia, and so on. Your thoughts?
Orientals well aware what little of value there is in Hawaii and HA. Overpriced accomodations and dining facilities offering little to no value for their yen, rimimbi or won. Pidgin folks ready to rip off tourists at every occasion. Their trade mark is the lei, aloha and a phony smile.
Hawaiian is worth more as Hawaiian Airlines serving Hawaii than if they merged with a U.S. carrier and lost their identity. An Asian carrier could in fact own part of Hawaiian without Hawaiian losing it's identity.
