The difference between the comapanies is innovation, and the environment to be creative. CAG is not creative in a way that develops margin out of their exisitng products. One great example is Hormel and what they have done with their shelf stable entrees. The sales are truly incremental and basically the product is dinty moore stew, but instead of a can and stove top prep, they put it in a microwavable tray, like a frozen entree - at a higher dollar to customer cost and return. CAG could have done that in multiple brand platforms and didn't. It's not to say that CAG has never had successful launches, they have. But you need to keep coming back consistently. They haven't shown they can do that.
