Cheri Beranek, Clearfield's CEO, was part of a Q&A session in the latest edition of OSP magazine which is a publication focused on the telecom industry. The Q&A featured a handful of women in the telecom industry from companies such as Google Fiber, Centurylink and AT&T etc. Christine Bennett, strategic negotiator for Google Fiber, had an interesting comment:
"One of the first things I bring up with an OSP vendor or contractor is that Google likes to build partnerships and long term relationships. While some vendors are more costly than others we try to optimize the job and the relationship so it is beneficial for both parties. I've facilitated several brainstorming sessions on the Google campus, bringing together a mix of engineering, architectural and construction entities to tackle several issues. The magic that happens when you allow unfettered creativity and free thoughts to flow is truly amazing. The development of new tools, new processes/procedures and new network components is ongoing and through the collaboration between the parties both Google and the vendor win."
It certainly sounds like Google has built a partnership with Clearfield who has a solid reputation for customization and meeting customer needs. Hopefully it becomes a long term relationship.
