Well, I've shorted stocks frequently myself. And, of course, the large short interest here is part of what has propelled it upward. It remains to be seen how much of this is left. Except for gambling on some puts, I don't understand why anyone would be short stocks like this. There is always explosive potential to the upside via acquisition, some unexpected FDA approval event, or the release of some favorable trial data. Every now and again, an AFFY or a CLSN implode; however, this was not a one-trick pony, but a company with a whole portfolio of promising oncology drugs.
