27k+ shares on a friday after hours is nothing to sneeze at.... better than down after market hours..

That's kind of the point though. Somebody seemed to know something very important and in the little time left after hours was willing to pay whatever and they were out there all by themselves. That seems the only plausible scenario. No buy out rumor, no takeover rumor, etc., something very hot and specific.
