While I have doubts for China's long-term economy, I highly doubt the integrity of Chanos. As we all know, he has shorted China for a while. He simply tries to exaggerates every negative aspect of China to influence the financial community.
Claims such as "would take issue with almost any corporate accounting in China" are also far from reasonable. It is more like a statement of fear. Overall, even though I share some belief with Chanos, I feel disgusted by his integrity.
Why? Because you don't believe it you don't think Chanos believes what he says and all
because he is short on China? I think you should believe more that shorts state than longs.
I also find them more honest.
No. If Chanos is a reasonable man, which I believe he is, he must not totally believe what he said. He's strategy is to say something based on 50% of fact and 50% of exaggeration. Certainly, I believe shorting China is good strategy from late 2009 to now. But now, it is too late.
Also, China did growth tremendously in the last 20 years, but Chanos tried to say in front of media that all the growth is not true.
